Koko funds and runs a rural community centre in a village near Homer Bay in Rongo, Kenya. The centre currently provides accommodation and care for 20 children (maximum number will be 40).
The children living in the home used to be housed in an orphanage in Kisumu Kenya. Sadly, it was forced to close in 2005. One of the aims of the charity was to rehouse these children as quickly as possible in a new, safe, loving home. Meet some of the children


The centre also provides training workshops in carpentry, plumbing, sewing and farming for older children living in the orphanage, and (for a small fee of £2) for local villagers and the wider rural community to gain skills to be able to make an income. There is a clinic on site for villagers to use and for the wider rural community, providing basic health care and free training. Find out more

Surplus food grown on the on site farm is given to children under the age of 9 as one meal per day(maximum of 50 per day)whose parents have no income and no way of providing food for them. This is done through the use of meal tickets distributed by local chiefs in surrounding rural area.

The centre provides people living in the area with a sense of empowerment, where sustainable, positive changes can be made to improve basic living conditions. We want the centre to run as self sufficiently as possible. However, we need funding to support the provision of basic medication, seeds for crops, wages for employees, money for electricity bills, and maintenance of equipment used in the workshops.
